Serving the Nevada trucking industry since 1932
Founded in 1932 as the Commercial Motor Operators of Nevada, the association was created to defend the trucking industry against government actions that threatened its safety, efficiency, and profitability.
Today, as the Nevada Trucking Association, it continues that mission—advocating for the industry and helping shape practical, effective legislation.
Members rely on the NTA to navigate ongoing challenges, including rising insurance costs, driver shortages, evolving regulations, and legal pressures from abusive litigation.
The NTA also works to ensure lawmakers, regulators, the media, and the public understand a simple truth: trucking is essential.
Beyond trucking, the association supports broader business issues that impact its members, their customers, and Nevada’s economy.
In the past 10 decades, NTA has:
- Led the industry through major milestones—from Depression-era regulation and WWII support to deregulation in 1980 and guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Reduced costs for longer combination vehicle permits and improved registration flexibility, including self-registration and staggered renewal cycles.
- Developed a Workers’ Compensation program that has saved members millions.
- Advanced infrastructure initiatives, including expanded truck parking and permanent trailer registration.
- Advocated against burdensome taxes and regulations impacting the industry.
- Partnered with FMCSA, Nevada Highway Patrol, and local agencies to promote highway safety.
- Worked with NDOT to shape a Nevada-focused freight plan recognizing the industry’s impact and challenges.
- Kept members informed through ongoing outreach, including newsletters and regular engagement with regulators and stakeholders.
